Dendritic jasper is an amazing natural work of art by Mother Nature. Occasionally jaspers may contain “dendrites”, small black feathery patterns that are actually fossils of tiny prehistoric sea creatures. Their presence significantly increases the value of a jasper piece. Sometimes the main color is more of a tan or more of a red. This one is more gray with black and tan fossilized lacy lines in the stone. This earring begins with a sterling silver post that utilizes a large ball of sterling silver that sits in front of the earlobe. Hanging from the post is a ball of magnetic hematite, a small sterling silver nugget and another small ball of magnetic hematite. I like using hematite in my designs not only because of the smooth and glossy beauty of the stone but also because it adds energy to your own personal energy field. These are not stones you want when you are trying to sleep! Next comes a lacy sterling silver placket and then the dendritic jasper. Since that sterling silver placket is lacy, I wanted to add a lacy looking sterling silver hat to carry through the lacy feel of this earring. While it is long and linear and may appear somewhat contemporary to an untrained eye, the laciness of the sterling silver and the fossil lines in the stones softens it to make it more romantic. It is a combining of strength and softness, just the way we are as women. This earring would be appropriate in most settings. Your imagination is the only limiting factor.
